Procrastination

Procrastination...sneaks up on you. All the things I was going to do this summer to get ready for dog sledding - and here it is, the middle of August and I’ve only gotten one item truly done.

Where does the time go?

Okay, I guess there is some excuse for the absolute crappy month of May. June really wasn’t any better. July almost seemed like life could get back to normal, but the beginning of August proved otherwise. (Maybe there is no normal?  Maybe as adult, life changes faster and more unsettling than as a child? Which I find odd since childhood seems to be all about change and the anxiousness to grow up and get on with life...)

Anyway, here it is, a month and a half until the Northern New England Sled Dog Trade Fair and probably a month until one can get some consistent dry land training in.

I still need:

  1. drop chains or cable - suggestions?
  2. a dog box for the back of the Jeep, or someway to keep four eager dogs from rushing over me every time I open the door
  3. buying a trailer to haul my friends’ motorless ATV
  4. sturdier snublines
  5. harnesses for the puppies with a proper fit
  6. some sort of bridge to span the brook so I can make it to the VAST trail without the dogs balking at wet feet
  7. a real sled bag
  8. a spare snowhook
  9. a GPS radio - but most likely it will wait another year
  10. change all the batteries in the headlamps and flashlights

Guess I need to work on the list a little at a time before I have to do the whole list at once! Not this week though, long hours expected at work. Maybe the following week?

Are those snowflakes falling out the window? Already?
