December

So far this December has been a bust.  Enough snow to impede the use of the cart, but not enough to run all six dogs.

Plus, even on the days I could have taken some of the dogs out on the snow, I haven't because I've already taken so much time off work this month due to illnesses (strep throat, pink eye, a nagging and lingering cough...and back to strep throat).

Yesterday was especially frustrating.  I felt poor, but there was so much snow coming down with a nice firm base that I really wanted to take the dogs out.  However, I decided to do the smart thing and stay inside and rest up, so maybe I can kick whatever other nastiness has decided to inhabit my body.

Today was depressing.  All the snow went away due to the rain and temperatures in the 50s.  Really?!  I was so hoping the weather people were going to be wrong with today's forecast.  To add insult and possible injury: the packed snow in the kennels and driveway didn't melt, and with the dropping temperatures is turning to ice.

At least from Wednesday through Friday I got to hang out in Husky country while I was at a recertification class down in Storrs, Connecticut.  I had no idea it was the home of the Huskies until I saw a UConn water bottle with a husky on it.  Per Wikipedia, UConn is the home of the huskies, because that's what live animal the student body voted for, back in 1934.

Well, if nothing else, a lot of my mushing friends managed to get out on the snow with their sleds!
