Disappointment

I got out of work after eight hours (for a change) and thought Let's take the dogs for a run.  So I got home, loaded up the cart, gear, water, food and dogs.  We headed off to the Delaware-Hudson Rail Trail in West Rupert.

The dogs were so excited.  This was going to be our first run of the Fall and I was even willing to do the run in the dark, by myself, not something I like to do.

I like to run the rail trail in the Fall on some of our first runs, since the trail is fairly flat and it's an easy run.  Great for getting back into the swing and getting the kinks out.

We got to the Rail Trail and this is what I found:

Barricades
Barricades had been installed.  Pedestrians can still use the trail, but not anything much bigger than a person or a bicycle.

I dropped the dogs since they had been baited before we left.  Of course only the two oldest peed.  Then everyone ended back up in the Jeep and we drove up to West Pawlet.

Every road/trail intersection between West Rupert and West Pawlet now has a barricade.

I understand the reason for the barricades to try and keep the 4-wheelers off the trail, but it was a huge disappointment to lose a great trail for fun runs and first Fall runs.
